In the years 2011 and 2012 the Python Italia team had very successfully organized the EuroPython conference. Following the tradition of doing two years in a row, the EPS set out to run a call for proposal for the years 2013/2014.
Call for Proposals
The EPS announced the CFP 2013 on 2011-10-16.
Submitted proposals
Unfortunately, no proposals were submitted in time for the January 1 2012 deadline set in the call. Fortunately, the void was filled only 1.5 weeks later by the Python Italia team:

After having waited more than two months without receiving any proposals, Python Italia stepped up and proposed to run the conference for another year.
EPS decision
The EPS gladly accepted the offer of the Python Italia team to run the conference for another year.
